9 Great Tips to Prevent Hair Loss Quickly & Naturally
Hair loss is the time in your life when you realize your youth may not last forever. The good news is that there are ways to prevent hair loss naturally so that you can combat aging – hair loss at least – and defy your age.
Here are nine tips to prevent hair loss naturally that work well.
Tip #9 – Avoid Weakening by Not Using Hot Water for Hair Rinsing
Hot water can damage your hair. While it may feel great to jump into a hot shower in the middle of winter, this immense heat will dry out your hair and scalp causing you to lose more hair along the way.
And the hot water will weaken the hair significantly, too!
So, try using a cold rinse for your hair or, at least, tone down the heat so that you don’t damage your hair along the way.
Tip #8 – Massage Your Scalp With a Mixture of Essential & Carrying Oils
Essential and carrying oils should be rubbed into the scalp. These oils will keep your hair healthy and remove dry skin on the scalp which may lead to eventual hair loss. A few combinations that you might want to try, include:
- Coconut oil
- Olive oil
- Almond oil
If you wish to use an essential oil, it’s recommended that you mix them with one of these three oils, including Lavender, Rosemary, and Geranium.
Tip #7 – Moisturize Your Hair with Nutritious Oils & Homemade Masks
Oils and hair masks are an amazing way to moisturize the hair, combat dry scalp and keep the hair you do have strong and healthy. The best homemade coconut hair mask that I have personally found includes:
- 2 – 4 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil
- 1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil
- 1 Tablespoon of Organic Honey
- 1 Egg Yolk
- 5+ Drops of Essential Oil of Your Choice
You want to use all organic products. Just place these ingredients into a mixing bowl (do not forget to heat up coconut oil to make it liquid) and make a thick mixture. Then you’ll want to work them into your hair starting at the root.
Just wrap your hair in a bun and let the mask sit for 30 minutes before rinsing!
Pay attention: You can also use castor oil (excellent for hair growth) in the same manner. Argan oil is another potent oil that can be used for overall hair growth and health.
Tip #6 – Eat Enough Protein & Fish Meat
Protein and fish are great for your body and hair. What most people don’t realize is that hair growth requires protein. Since hair is mostly composed of this substance, you’ll want to ensure you eat enough protein-rich foods.
A few foods to include are Fish, lean meats, lentils, beans, eggs, soy, and beef.
Fish is also good because fish oils naturally contain omega-3 fatty acids. These naturally nourish hair follicles.
Tip #5 – Let Your Hair Air Dry
Drying your hair with a towel or a blow dryer will cause it to dry out. And if there is one thing that is horrible for your hair, or lack thereof, it is a lack of moisture.
- First off, towels are rough on the head and will often damage hair follicles.
- Second, letting your hair air dry allows for more moisture to stay in the hair follicles and is overall better for your hair.
Pay attention: Because of these two main reasons we recommend letting your hair air dry naturally.
Tip #4 – Reduce Your Stress Levels
Stress can cause your hair to turn gray, and it can cause you to lose it as well. Seriously. You need to learn how to let go of daily stress.
A few good ways to reduce your stress levels, include meditation, practicing mindfulness, exercising, sleeping more, partaking in sport, or going for a massage.
Pressure comes from a variety of different sources, and if you let it sneak up on you, you’ll find that your hair will start to thin and fall out until there is nothing left!
Tip #3 – Take Vitamins, Minerals & Supplements Essential for Hair Growth
Nutritional deficiencies cause hair loss. Your body needs certain vitamins and minerals to combat hair loss.
A few optimal supplements to take are Saw Palmetto, multivitamin, omega-3 fatty acid supplement, fish oils, zinc, and iron.
A multivitamin will likely provide all of the zinc and iron you need as well as other essential vitamins. Fish oils or an omega-3 fatty acid will also do wonders for your hair, but multivitamins do not contain these omega-3s.
Tip #2 – Fix Your Dandruff ASAP
Dandruff, bad dandruff (you know, the kind that leaves your shoulders covered with white speckles), can cause your hair to stop growing.
This is caused by a lack of moisture on the scalp, and it can also be caused by nutritional deficiencies in the body. A dandruff-specific shampoo or conditioner works best.
Pay attention: You can also use any of the moisturizing tips listed above.
Tip #1 – Try Caffeinated Shampoos & Stop Smoking
Caffeine isn’t just the nectar of the gods that wakes you up in the morning – it’s been proven to help with hair growth. You’ll find caffeinated shampoos on the market that will offer special formulas that help slow hair loss dead in its tracks.
These are top three products to choose from:
A study was even conducted by Friedrich-Schiller-University on caffeine and hair growth to show its potency.
